Kindergarten - 8th Grade
Students experience art through a wide range of materials:

- air drying clay

Philosophy

Objective
- Develop creative thinking and creative expression in each student
- Teach the basic Elements of Art: Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Value, Space and Form
- Build confidence in each student’s ability to apply these Elements of Art, in their own individual creative style as they create ART
- Introduce students to a wide range of Artistic Expressions and mediums: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, 3D design, Clay and mixed media
- Show examples of how various Artists have applied these Elements of Art to their work
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
- Learn Primary and Secondary Colors, along with a basic understanding of the Color wheel
- Learn shapes – Organic and Geometric
- Creative Drawing and exploration of a variety of drawing materials, pencil, oil pastels, markers
- Create Art work that teaches the application of each of the Elements of Art
- Progressively more difficult Art projects that stretch their creative thinking abilities
3rd - 5th Grade
- Review colors, learn basic principles of color theory, complementary colors, and mixing colors
- Develop basic drawing skills and the application of these skills to create a finished drawing
- Learn more advanced application of combining the Elements of Art in creative ways
- Cooperative learning experiences in group Art projects and artist job interviews to explore integration of art into everyday life
6th - 8th Grade
- Advanced color theory: tints, tones, and shades, triadic & analogous colors
- Advanced Drawing techniques taught: perspective, foreshortening, shading & shadows, foreground, middle, & background
- Strong emphasis on creativity and individual expression in every Art lesson
- Basic Art History
- Advanced creative problem solving in 3D Art
